No More Temporaries: The Ultimate Guide to Same-Day Dental Crowns
Dental crowns are a great option for restoring damaged or weakened teeth. There even better when you can get them in a single office visit. Read on for your ultimate guide to same-day crowns.

Dental crowns are one of the handiest restoration tools in a dentist’s menu of services.

At Desert Dental in North Hollywood, CA, Brian B. Shahangian, DDS, and Bita Shahangian, DDS, use dental crowns to restore a natural tooth weakened by a large cavity, chip, or crack. They also use crowns to top dental bridges and dental implants to replace missing teeth, as well as to finish off root canals.

Traditional dental crowns require two appointments. We know it can be challenging to find time in your schedule for multiple visits. Fortunately, with same-day crowns, you only need one one-hour session.

Here’s what we want you to know about this state-of-the-art fix.

Natural-looking and long-lasting

Same-day crowns are custom-made from tooth-colored porcelain that’s carefully chosen to match your neighboring teeth. The porcelain material mimics the look and feel of your natural teeth so closely that after your dentist places them, you may not be able to detect which teeth are your natural teeth and which ones are your crowns.

With proper at-home hygiene and regular dental checkups, your same-day crown can last 5-15 years.

One and done

Traditional crowns are placed over two appointments. During the first appointment, your dentist preps the tooth that will receive the crown and takes an impression so a mold of the crown can be sent to a laboratory, which “mills” or carves it off-site.

With same-day crowns, everything is done right in our office.

Using 3D technology, we can create a replica of your mouth and take detailed measurements of the tooth that will ultimately receive the crown. Advanced computer-aided design software then takes over, using the digital image collected to design the crown. Finally, the information is sent to an on-site fabrication machine that mills the crown from a block of solid ceramic.

Once the crown is made, we place it and check its fit to ensure your bite is correct. This is typically accomplished in just an hour.

This streamlined approach not only enhances the patient experience but also supports better oral health by reducing the time between diagnosis and treatment.

No temporary crown worries

With same-day crowns, you can say goodbye to temporary crown worries and hello to the most natural and convenient dental treatment available. Now that’s dental technology everyone can get behind.
